Many of our clients identify as high-functioning, high-achieving, perfectionists who have run out of steam or tools to support their current lives. They are now experiencing issues with sleep and eating, and what where once manageable intrusive thoughts now feel overwhelming. We find once a client begins down the road of poor sleep and food behaviors, symptoms related to depression are often already present or soon to follow. It is often not shocking to find that big “T” traumas or small “t” traumas (known and sometimes unknown to the client) are at the root of your current distress.
Distress related to communication is the number one self-reported issue by our clients with relationship issues. We work with individuals and couples to help them understand their own communication styles and preferences, with specific attention to active listen skills. Increasing awareness around attachment and personality types, as well as family of origin has been instrumental to our clients’ growth.
Other relationship issues that many of our couples struggle with is around sexual intimacy, finance differences, and infidelity. For our individual clients, we see many clients who are in (or have a history of) codependent relationships (romantic or familial) that often involve a narcissistic partner or parent.
We work with clients, couples, families, and caregivers currently experiencing mental health issues related to medical or health complications. Medical mistakes are the third leading cause of death in the US. We walk alongside clients whose quality of life have been impacted by medical mistakes, chronic illnesses and pain, hormone issues, PCOS, bariatric surgery, and cancer diagnosis or cancer remissions. Our team is highly aware of the mind-body connection and will work to improve your understanding of what has happened, as well as, how to continue to flourish after a devastating medical event.
Sex therapy is a talk-based practice where clients explore their sexual wants/needs, improve communication about sexual intimacy, and increase their overall sexual health knowledge — all in a judgment-free space. We work with both individuals and couples seeking their happiest and healthiest sex life; whether it be intimacy challenges, low sexual arousal, trauma, sexual dysfunction, or mismatched sexual desire. We have several clinically relevant approaches, including Sensate Focus. Our aim is to reduce anxiety of sexual performance and address problems related to body image, arousal, desire, erectile dysfunction, orgasm, or pre/post orgasmic anxiety.
Clients who also wish to navigate alternative lifestyles, relationships, and interests, or to explore their own sexuality, can receive both affirming and informed counseling sessions. This includes Kink, Fetish, and Consensual/Ethical Non-Monogamy.
